About the project
The “iRoCs – Research and Development of an Intelligent Robotic Cleaning System” project resulted from a partnership between Atena – Industrial Automation, Lda. (lead promoter), Climex – Intelligent Cleaning (business entity), and the University of Aveiro (ENESII), with the objective of researching and designing a robotic solution for the automatic washing of large floors.
This project resulted in autonomous equipment capable of mapping the intervention area, also equipped with a Vision System that allows the operation to be managed in terms of resources and time spent. In this way, the robot is able to plan its activity in long cycles, ensuring compliance with cleaning and hygiene standards, using as few resources as possible.
Due to the system’s operational flexibility, the equipment produced can easily adapt to any environment where activities take place in large-area facilities, such as logistics and distribution centers, industrial production halls, or large commercial spaces.
The project was successfully completed in 31 months, with the robot achieving and exceeding all of the objectives initially set.
